Volunteer Services - Kaiser Hospitals
Sunnyside & Westside

You might find yourself pushing the beverage cart around the hospital at Westside offering complementary beverages to assisting with surgical check-ins at Sunnyside.  You might be in the rotunda at Westside or the lobby at Sunnyside.  Do you play the piano-we want you at Westside!

While the names are different, the roles are not, we provide assistance to our members walking them to places they may not be familiar with.  You might be a baby rocker for our NICU department at Westside or help customers find the perfect item in the gift shop at Sunnyside. Do you sew, quilt or knit?  We have roles for you.   These are just a few of the ways you make connections with our members.  Do you want to help in the Emergency Department or need something with less mobility?  We have roles for you.

The need is ongoing and we would love to talk to you.  We do advertise through some online volunteer sites for both hospitals, recruit through high schools and colleges but we want to connect with you. Your Kaiser Permanente knowledge as a retiree is invaluable.

We offer a program for someone 16-18 years old to help put purpose and definition on their goals and dreams. It can also be a wonderful line item on a personal resume.

Opportunities are present for those who have had careers and realized many of their goals and dreams. This opportunity can put exquisite frosting on the cupcake of their professional life.

To be eligible, volunteers must be at least 16 years old. There is no maximum age (we currently have a volunteer over 100 years old!).

Health screening, minimum GPA and letters of recommendation are required for our high school students.  College and adults will complete the same health screening as well as a background check.  Everyone will need to be able to commit to compliance training and a consistent schedule (however we do believe in and encourage vacations!)

Per the KP Volunteer Policy, KP retirees and current employees must volunteer in activities unrelated to their former or current roles.

Do you think the hospital is a good place for you to connect?  We do and encourage you to reach out.
