Volunteer Services – Ambulatory Care

KP Clinic Volunteer photo.jpg

KP retirees are now able volunteer their time in KPNW clinics! We invite you to bring your experience and compassion to join our clinic volunteer teams to help provide our members and patients with excellent care experiences, every time they visit. More. ...

Volunteer Services – Sunnyside Hospital

KP retirees and Community volunteers have been a cherished and important part of what makes Sunnyside Hospital what it has come to be. KaPeRs members, friends and family are invited to share in the fun, camaraderie and   contribution critical to the patient / family comfort during hospital stays and daytime appointments.

Among the most notable services volunteers provide are working in the gift shop that contributed over $100,000 toward patient comfort supplies and gifts and assisting with patient transportation at the point of discharge. More ...

Volunteers also help with flower delivery, appointment reminder calls, individual station requests, folding towels, and admitting office requests. They even need sewing and knitters for things like baby quilts, mastectomy pillows, chemo and baby hats and toe warmers!

The need is ongoing and unmet. Sunnyside periodically advertises in small local newspapers like the Clackamas Review and community fairs in the surrounding area and still has an open need. Give a grandchild, 16 or over, a great line on a job resume that may be in progress. Find a friend or neighbor to partner with and multiply the enjoyment of helping others.

Eligible volunteers must be at least 16 years old and be able to commit to hours to allow predictable scheduling. Adult volunteers must submit to a background check and drug screen, while all volunteers must pass a Health Screen for immunization to common communicable infections.

Per the KP Volunteer Policy, KP retirees and current employees must volunteer in activities unrelated to their former or current roles.

RETIRED RNS NEEDED!!  FILL THE ROLE OF MENTOR FOR NEW RN GRADS

Mentor a new RN Grad, listen, learn, and share your experience!

Mentor a new RN Grad, listen, learn, and share your experience!

Leave a legacy to nursing with an opportunity to influence a new grad for the rest of their professional career. Our next class launches in September 2018. Please contact Nick Socotch RN, with your interest and questions.

You will spend a morning learning about mentorship and then during a catered lunch if you decide to commit to mentoring one of our new grads you’ll spend a couple of hours in the afternoon selecting your potential mentee (new grad RN). We are asking for a commitment of 1-2 hours per month meeting with your new grad RN via in person, skype, phone, etc. from February – July 2017.

Mentorship will be driven by the new grad and facilitated by the mentor. That means the new grad is responsible for setting up meetings, deciding what to discuss/share, and the mentor is to attend the meetings and coach/facilitate the conversations. Mentorship will focus on professional development/growth not RN practice. As the mentor will may be working with the new grad RN’s professional growth by helping them navigate the professional, social, and/or political environment found at any workplace. My role is helping support you in the mentor role.
